Where in the UW & FoW do they actually appear? I have yet to actually see them in either. There are a few quests leading to destroying their influence in FoW & UW, but Menzies and Dhuum do not actually show themselves in person. You don’t destroy them; you just take out their henchmen. If you want to prove me wrong otherwise show me a screenshot of the 2. All I have seen is their influence, never the actual beings.
I think both of them do have powers still, but your right verily mild. However considering all these demons within the game and that the mists could be endless; they’re could be more of a formal celestial body who wishes to get back all that originally belonged to them.

well...if menzies is balthazars half brother surely they have a mum and dad? which indicates there are greater powers than the gods....maybe something like Lord AO in dungeons and dragons (like a greater cosmic power).
also the fact that grenth doesnt seem to have been born a god (or was a lesser one), since he had to steal power from Dhuum. (or whatever hes called)

That's what I meant by 'showing up' - through their minions, and mentions of their names. Apart from FoW/UW and near the end of Nightfall, though, there isn't any mention of them at all.
As you said, they haven't shown up in person - and I don't think they ever will. Certainly, I doubt they'll ever be permanently defeated, because that would make FoW and/or UW obsolete, while they seem to be intended to be essentially timeless.
